Paws for Thought August, 2009 - Paws for Thought (PDF File w/Pictures) OBESITY Well, I had this really great article put together about the impact that obesity has on your pet. But I guess it’s finally time to‘fess up. This enews is very late because somehow, somewhere (Nancy keeps telling me it’s her fault!), the article disappeared. Since it still hasn’t shown up, I think we will just send this on its way to you and maybe by next month, it will find its way back to the top of the pile. Sometimes, even the best of intentions... THANK YOU! Many times I have wanted to truly express my appreciation and somehow, that phrase has never seemed adequate. Even repeating it 3 or 4 times doesn’t seem like enough. It seems like there should be something stronger, something louder, even more meaningful. That is, until the last month or so. I have had several people express their gratitude to me with a simple heartfelt ‘Thank You’ and I finally realized that those 2 words are very meaningful and powerful. At the same time, I realized that I do not say it enough! So, to all of you who support what we are trying to do, those who read this e-news, and to those who have meant so much to Nancy and me since we came to Granbury, THANK YOU!. Many of you have asked about Nancy and I know that you continue to pray for her. Our prayers have been answered! In January, it appeared that the year 2009 was going to be the worst year of our lives. Nancy was either going to have lung transplants or a funeral. We had been told she was in the ‘end stages’ of her disease. Last week, she got up early and did one of her favorite things (garage sales), went to WalMart, did laundry, played with the grandkids that have just moved here from Colorado, AND cooked … all without the oxygen that has been her constant companion for the last 2 years. Thank you for your prayers, thank you for your concern, and thank God for answered prayers. A big thank you is also appropriate to all of you for your business. When we came to Granbury, we were determined to continue the project Dr. Myers started. That project was to bring ‘big city care’ to the pets of Granbury. Because so many of you want the best of care for your fur friends, we have been able to continue to add the technology that is available only in much larger places than Granbury. We have a trained staff and a team of doctors that few places anywhere have. And we have had AAHA (the American Animal Hospital Association) place their stamp of approval on our project. Just see if you can find anywhere else that has 2 AAHA-approved hospitals in a town this size! We thank you for that because we love being able to practice at this level. The technology and procedures are not inexpensive to do, but they are critical aspects of our ability to go where we need to in order to find causes and cures. Knowing that high quality care is available to our patients gives us a great deal of pride and satisfaction. Thank you, thank you. We love what we do, we love doing it well, we love you and yours. You have blessed our lives. Don C. Miller, DVM and all our staff One final comment: I will begin teaching a class entitled “Fact or Faction: The Case for Historic Christianity”. It begins Wednesday, August 26 at 7:00 pm at the Granbury Church of Christ, located across the street from the high school at 1905 W. Pearl, and I would love to have you with us. Call 817.573.2613 if you have more questions. Best Commercial Entry Extra special kudos to Dr. Karen Mikols for the design of our float and the hours of labor she put into our winning entry. Numerous additional staff members worked hard to make our first parade entry successful. |
